KARACHI, Pakistan – A multi-agency search operation is underway off the coast of Karachi after a K2 Airways Boeing 737 cargo plane, carrying five crew members, vanished from radar screens late Tuesday. The aircraft, en route from Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates to Karachi, reported a navigation system problem just minutes before losing contact with air traffic control.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:21 PM local time (16:21 GMT) on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, according to the Pakistan Airports Authority. The plane, identified as a 27-year-old converted freighter, was observed rapidly descending and undergoing swift heading changes before radar contact and communication were lost about 155 nautical miles west of Karachi.

Dramatic Descent Preceded Disappearance

Preliminary flight data from Flightradar24, a flight-tracking platform, paints a stark picture of the aircraft’s final moments. The data indicates a sharp fluctuation in altitude, including a plunge of approximately 5,000 feet in under a minute, followed by a surge of 6,000 feet in just 30 seconds.
